Radio Disney is re-launching its popular N.B.T. (Next Big Thing) as a year-round showcase to introduce recently signed musical acts.
N.B.T. has seen five successful seasons on Radio Disney, launching the careers of Coco Jones and Allstar Weekend. The revamped program will chronicle the featured artist’s journey from being discovered to becoming the next big musical star. Viewers will get unprecedented access into events and other activities.
Fifth Harmony – the season two X Factor finalists – was the first act to be in the spotlight when N.B.T. debuted on July 19.
“Radio Disney is proud to be recognized as a first home for many of today’s most popular young artists including Selena Gomez, Cher Lloyd, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and Austin Mahone,” said Phil Guerini, Vice President, Programming and General Manager, Radio Disney. “This exciting evolution of ‘N.B.T.’ elevates our commitment to being the first to introduce our audience to tomorrow’s next big music stars, and we are honored to be joining forces with industry legend LA Reid, Epic Records and Syco Entertainment to introduce Fifth Harmony as the initial act to launch our new format.”
Fifth Harmony is releasing their debut album this fall. The group was put together by Simon Cowell and is made up of X Factor contestants Dinah Jane Jansen, Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, and Camila Cabello.
