Summer is in full swing at Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District with volleyball at the beach and additional Dole Days of Summer.
Starting today, July 16, summer volleyball arrives at the District for a five-day event. The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. each day through July 20 and it focuses on health and community outreach. Participants will have a chance to play on a specially constructed sand volleyball court in the plaza between the ESPN Zone and Earl of Sandwich.
On July 16, 18, and 19 the OC Volleyball Junior tournament will be played from 9 a.m. until noon, with clinics by volleyball pro Ed Ratledge from noon until 1 p.m. Disneyland cast members will be participating in an intramural tournament Wednesday through Friday.
Professional beach volleyball players are scheduled to appear on July 19 and 20 for exhibition games and to greet fans.
And diners will be happy to hear that the Dole Days of Summer Hawaiian Nights has been extended for two additional Fridays – July 18 and 23.
During the Dole Days of Summer the restaurants in the Downtown Disney District are serving new Hawaiian dishes including: Mango Habanero Hot Wings and Pineapple Mojito at the ESPN Club; Pineapple Shrimp Ceviche and Achiote-Marinated Flat Iron Steak at Tortilla Jo’s; and Grilled Salmon Strawberry Salad and Pineapple Upside Down Cake at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen.
The Dole Days of Summer also includes island entertainment. The special Hawaiian dishes are available through September.
