Disney Infinity is a bona fide hit for The Walt Disney Company.
The interactive video game with its play figures that allow users to mix and match Disney characters is expected to reach $1 billion in sales according to statements from Jimmy Pitaro, president of Disney’s Interactive division.
At the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Disney Interactive provided fans an in-depth look at Disney Infinity: Marvel Superheroes (2.0 Edition).
The Disney Infinity sequel will feature The Avengers, and a Spider-Man Play set will also be available when 2.0 launches in the fall. The new play set includes Spider-Man, Nick Fury, Iron Fist, Nova, Venom, Black Cat, and Luke Cage.
The 2.0 version of Infinity includes new gameplay features like specialized character controls and skill-tree leveling.
Disney recently reported $550 million in retail sales for Infinity, and sales of the game helped the company post a $14 million profit for the interactive division in the last fiscal quarter.
