First Lady Michelle Obama is set to guest star on Disney Channel’s hit show Jessie next month.
The storyline for the episode raises awareness about the service, sacrifice, and needs of military families. The special episode is part of Disney’s ongoing support for the U.S. Armed Services and the White House’s Joining Forces initiative.
The episode, “From the White House to Our House,” finds Jessie and Zuri wanting to host a birthday party for Taylor, a friend whose mother is deployed with the military. Taylor doesn’t want to celebrate without her mom, and Zuri enlists the help of Mrs. Obama.
Mrs. Obama was a keynote speaker at last year’s Disney’s Veterans Institute and has made supporting military families and U.S. troops a top priority. In 2011, Mrs. Obama and Dr. Jill Biden launched Joining Forces, which is dedicated to connecting servicemen and women, veterans, and military spouses with resources to find jobs at home.
“From the White House to Our House” premieres Friday, May 16 at 8 p.m. on Disney Channel. A Public Service Announcement featuring Mrs. Obama will accompany the episode.
