Epcot’s The Seas with Nemo & Friends was recently granted accreditation again by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).
According to the AZA President and CEO Jim Maddy, “The Association of Zoos and Aquariums accredits only those aquariums and zoos that meet the highest standards. As a leader in wildlife conservation and animal care, inspiring millions of visitors each year, The Seas is ranked among the best aquariums in the world.”
The accreditation process must be repeated every five years and includes an application and a an on-site inspection by trained zoo and aquarium professionals.
The Seas with Nemo & Friends had to ensure that it has and will continue to meet the standards of the AZA including animal care, veterinary programs, conservation, guest services, safety, and research and education.
The inspection teams noted achievement in certain areas includes The Seas conservation program and its partnership with the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, education programs, animal care, and research projects.
