This summer a new Disney Kingdoms comic series will be released and it stars Figment and Dreamfinder.
The five-issue series is a collaboration between Marvel and Walt Disney Imagineering, and was created by writer Jim Zub (Skullkickers), artist Filipe Andrade (Captain Marvel), and cover artist John Tyler Christopher.
The story in the series is a steampunk fantasy adventure that reveals the never-before-told story of Dreamfinder’s origin.
“Can you imagine the never-before-revealed origin of one of Disney’s most creative characters? Can you picture a Marvel spin on the Epcot’s mind-expanding attraction, Journey Into Imagination? Have you ever wondered how the inventor known as Dreamfinder created a certain inquisitive purple dragon?” says editor Bill Rosemann in an article on D23.com. “Be prepared for all of these answers – not to mention amazing creatures, magical lands, and cool clockwork contraptions in Figment!”
In an interview with Marvel.com writer Jim Zub said that “expanding the story of Figment has been intimidating” but he is enjoying it. He adds that he “wants to right by Disney fans and new readers alike, creating an entertaining story and that comes from working with engaging characters.”
Figment No. 1 it hits comic book stores this June.
