Whimsical and Contemporary Festival of Fantasy Parade Debuts in March at the Magic Kingdom

festival of fantasy paradeThe Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade is set to debut next month at the Magic Kingdom with 100 performers and brand new floats, all in a tribute to Fantasyland.

The parade is the first in a new generation of Disney Parks parades and includes new technology, a new musical score, and floats that are three stories tall.

“The parade celebrates and pays homage to what the Magic Kingdom is all about,” said Randy Wojcik, senior show director Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Creative Entertainment. “It has the most beautiful floats, enchanting characters, vibrant costumes that come to life; and the choreography is just glorious. Yet, it is also very kinetic, relevant and powerful on a scale never seen before at Walt Disney World.”

The parade features nine floats that will travel down Main Street U.S.A. to an all-new soundtrack composed by Mark Hammond – who is known for his work on World of Color of Disney California Adventure. Each float has a theme song which is then followed by a medley of songs.

The floats in the parade include The Princess Garden celebrating Disney royalty with Cinderella, Tiana, and Belle and their princes; Tangled which showcases Flynn Rider and Rapunzel; the Little Mermaid with Ariel and her friends perched atop a seashell music box; Peter Pan featuring Wendy and Peter Pan soaring high above the Jolly Roger pirate ship; Brave which announces the arrival of Merida and features Scottish dancers; and Sleeping Beauty where Prince Phillip battles the Steampunk-inspired Maleficent Dragon.

The parade ends with a 90-foot magical caravan of characters including Pinocchio, Dumbo, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Mad Hatter, and more. Mickey and Minnie are perched in Mickey’s Airship – a giant hot air balloon that is the final float in the parade.
