The Producers Guild of America (PGA) recently announced nominees for the 2014 PGA Awards, and both ABC and The Walt Disney Studios received nominations.
Ten films were nominated for the Guild’s Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures including Saving Mr. Banks (producers Ian Collie, Alison Owen, and Philip Steuer).
The last six Best Picture Oscar winners had previously won the PGA’s Darryl F. Zanuck award – which means if Saving Mr. Banks wins it has a good chance of winning again on Oscar night.
Two Disney films were nominated for The Award for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures – Frozen from Walt Disney Studios, and Monsters University from Pixar Animation.
ABC’s Modern Family was nominated for The Danny Thomas Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television, Comedy, while Shark Tank was nominated for The Award for Outstanding Producer of Non-Fiction Television. ESPN’s 30 for 30 was also nominated in that category.
ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live was nominated for The Award for Outstanding Producer of Live Entertainment & Talk Television, while Dancing With The Stars was nominated for The Award for Outstanding Producer of Competition Television.
Robert Iger, CEO and Chairman of The Walt Disney Company will be honored with the Producer’s Guild of America Milestone Award at the January 19 ceremony.
