Children’s Miracle Network – a nonprofit that raises funds and awareness for children’s hospitals – has been named as the presenting sponsor for the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend at the Walt Disney World Resort.
As the presenting sponsor, Children’s Miracle Network will have the opportunity to raise awareness and fundraising for the Network’s 170 children’s hospitals.
The charity will also receive up to 400 registrations for the sold-out race that are reserved for runners who are interested in fundraising for the group. Half-marathon participants must raise a minimum of $300 to participate. Runners who commit to raise more than $1,600 will receive a two-day Park Hopper pass and a two-night stay at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.
Disney and Children’s Miracle Network have a relationship that goes back to 1987 when the Network hosted its annual telethon at Disneyland Resort. In later years, the Walt Disney World Resort hosted the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic, a PGA Tour event.
“We’ve enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals,” said Faron Kelley, director of sports marketing at Walt Disney World Resort. “We are eager to work closely with them again through our Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend in ways that support the extraordinary work they are doing with children in their 170 hospitals nationwide.”
The Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend is scheduled for February 20-23, 2014 and includes a Royal Family 5K, the Disney Enchanted 10K, runDisney kids races, and the half marathon. As of press time, all races except the Royal Family 5K and the kids races are sold out. The Royal Family 5K is at 58 percent capacity, while the kids races are at 60 percent capacity.
