Superheroes are all the rage right now, and there’s a new show coming to Disney XD that puts a new spin on the genre.
In Mighty Med, two best friends land the after school job of their dreams at Mighty Med, a secret hospital for superheroes, sci-fi, and fantasy characters. The friends soon discover that their favorite characters are real and secretly live among them.
The boys have no powers – other than their knowledge of superheroes, sci-fi, and fantasy worlds – but they must learn to navigate through two worlds and save the superheroes with the help of superhero Skylar Storm and the Chief of Staff’s nephew Alan Diaz.
Mighty Med stars Disney Channel’s Bradley Steven Perry (Good Luck Charlie) and Jake Short (A.N.T. Farm). The cast also includes Paris Berelcas, Devan Leos (Madea’s Witness Protection), Jason and Randy Skylar (ESPN’s Cheap Seats: Without Ron Parker), and Carlos Lacamara (The Brothers Garcia).
The show premieres as a one-hour event on Monday, October 7 at 8:30 p.m. ET. In the premiere episode, “Saving the People Who Save People, Part 1 and Part 2”, Kaz (Perry) and Oliver (Short) discover a doorway to Mighty Med and meet Skylar Storm, a superhero who lost her powers. When Kaz’s favorite superhero Tecton is rushed to the hospital the boys must find a way to save him before his nemesis does.
The series was created by Emmy Award-nominee Jim Bernstein (Phineas and Ferb) and Andy Schwartz (Scrubs). It carries a TV-Y7 parental guideline rating.
