Disney fans young and old will be able to belt out their favorite Disney songs as never before starting today, as Disney announced the release of their newest video game “Disney Sing It: Family Hits.” The new game, put out by Disney Interactive Studios, is a “karaoke style” video game that is available for both the Wii console and the Sony PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system.
“Whether you grew up watching Disney films or you now have kids or even grandkids who treasure the diverse portfolio of Disney properties, Disney Sing It: Family Hits will strike a chord with fans of all ages,” said Craig Relyea, senior vice president of global marketing, Disney Interactive Studios. “Because Disney Sing It: Family Hits bridges the generation gap so seamlessly, it is sure to add a new level of excitement to family gatherings.”
The game includes 30 hit songs for players to sing along to, including older songs like “The Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book and “Bibbiti Bobbiti Boo (The Magic Song)” from Cinderella, as well as newer Disney songs like “Almost There” from “The Princess and the Frog,” “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from “Toy Story,” and “Hakuna Matata” from “The Lion King.” The game also includes 20 songs in Spanish. All the songs are accompanied by videos montages and footage from the movie they originated in. Players can use the game’s “pitch bar” to assist them in singing the right notes, and the songs can be sung solo, as a duet, with two people competing head-to-head, or in “Family Mode,” which allows up to six people get into the performance. Once the song’s over, players can use “Sing It Encore Mode” to play back their performance and customize it using fun effects.
The game will also feature Anika Noni Rose, voice of Tiana in “The Princess and the Frog,” who will coach the players and help them improve their singing and performance technique by leading them through a series of voice instructions, singing games, and game tutorials.
The game is rated “E” for Everyone by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). It is currently available as a standalone game for $39.99, or with a Logitech microphone for $49.99
