Fans of Marvel’s smash hit The Avengers will soon be able to see S.H.I.E.L.D. in action once more, as it was announced this week that the new Marvel series Agents of SHIELD has been picked up to air on ABC this fall.
The new series will focus on the operations of Marvel’s SHIELD initiative, the secret intelligence organization that has appeared in countless Marvel titles and was a main focus of The Avengers. The show is executive produced by Avengers director Joss Whedon with Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, Jeffrey Bell, and Jeph Loeb. Joss Whedon directed the pilot for the show, which he also co-wrote with Jed Whedon and Tancharoen.
Starring in Agents of SHIELD will be Clark Gregg reprising his Avengers role as Agent Phil Coulson, along with Ming-Na, Brett Dalton, Elizabeth Hentstridge, Iain DeCaestecker, and Chloe Bennet.
