Last month, we let you know that Disney’s upcoming live action remake of Cinderella was moving forward with director Kenneth Branagh at the helm. Cate Blanchett is already signed on to the film as the wicked stepmother, but this week brought an interesting report of who we might be seeing as Cinderella herself.
This week, Variety reported that Harry Potter alum Emma Watson is in early talks with Disney to star in the new film as Cinderella. While best known for her role as Hermione in the Potter franchise, Watson also appeared in last fall’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower and recently completed work on the upcoming films Noah and This is the End. Disney has not yet commented on Watson’s potential involvement with the film.
Disney’s new Cinderella is currently set to begin production this fall and make its theatrical debut in 2014. Stay tuned for more updates on this intriguing new film.
