Amid rumors of Disney Interactive’s “new gaming initiative,” the media and consumers alike were wondering if the speculation surrounding Disney Infinity was mere rumor or an actual reality. Now, it has been confirmed that the media giant will be unveiling the new game next year.
Based on a video that one particular Disney fan blog posted, the game would be similar to Activision’s mega-hit Skylanders, where players would use plastic tokens to “beam” Disney and Pixar characters into the game. Considering that Pixar CEO John Lasseter will unveil details about the game alongside Disney Interactive co-president John Pleasants at a media event on January 15, it’s reasonable to assume that both Disney and Pixar characters will feature prominently in the game.
Allegedly, Disney Infinity will be released for a variety of platforms, including Nintendo’s 3DS, Wii U, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. However, we won’t know any concrete details until the media event next month.
We’ll be sure to update you with further information about this exciting announcement as it becomes available.
