Last week, a group of Disney VoluntEARS joined the lovable Mickey Mouse to donate 35,000 toys to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program. The new toys, which include games, dolls and books, will benefit local Florida children in Orange County and Seminole County. This is the latest in Disney’s history of helping the Toys for Tots program. Nearly 60 years ago, Walt Disney himself helped design the charity’s official logo.
Nancy Gidusko, Walt Disney World’s director of community relations, said:
With these gifts, our cast members want to send a message of hope to youngsters by ensuring they have at least one new present to open during the holidays.
In addition to the donated toys, VoluntEARS gave freely of their time as well, donating more than 7,000 hours of their time to help the Marines with their program. They will also help assist with the delivery of the toys from December 14 to December 19.
