With the release of Disney’s upcoming film Frozen now just under a year away, we’re starting to hear more about what to expect from this highly-anticipated animated film. This week, Disney gave us a look at the visual style of the film with the first release of a piece of concept art from the film.
Frozen, which is being produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, is a computer animated film loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen’s tale The Snow Queen. Here’s the official synopsis:
When a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna, a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff and his sidekick reindeer Sven on an epic journey to find Anna’s sister Elsa, the Snow Queen, and put an end to her icy spell. Encountering mystical trolls, a funny snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.
In the new image, we can see Anna (voiced by Kristen Bell) and Kristoff making their way through the icy kingdom to find Elsa. This image also gives us our first look at what the finished visual style will look like. The sweeping icy background of the image seems to perfectly set the mood of the snowy kingdom that Elsa has created, and we can’t wait to see more of the film.
Frozen will debut in theaters November 27, 2013.
