Walt Disney World confirmed in a statement on Thursday that Kodak was ending their partnership, effective at the beginning of next year. Said the statement:
Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort and Kodak have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship over the years, and we thank Kodak for helping us to provide magical memories for our guests.
Now, the long-familiar Kodak Picture Spots that were often seen throughout Disney parks will be no more, as Kodak has officially ended their long-term partnership with Disney. Sources speculate that Kodak has ended its sponsorship in order to get out of bankruptcy.
Since the partnership has been dissolved, Disney will remove the Picture Spot signs from their theme parks, and re-print theme park maps that currently show locations of those picture spots. While Kodak initially sponsored Epcot’s Imagination Pavilion and Journey Into Imagination, a Disney spokesperson said that sponsorship had ended some time ago – those two areas will not be affected by these changes.
