Sources have reported that ABC Studios has ordered a television script based on the back story of the popular “Big Thunder Mountain Railroad” attraction at Disneyland.
The attraction, which opened in 1979 at Disneyland Park, is a Western adventure set in a mountain based on Bryce Canyon in Utah. Disney’s story says the mountain has “mysterious rumblings and strange noises” and “Native American tales claim that supernatural forces will unleash the power of thunder upon those who dare to remove gold from the mountain.” The ride now appears at 5 Disney parks worldwide.
Chris Morgan and Jason Fuchs have been hired to co-write the script. Morgan’s previous experience includes the Fast and the Furious movies, as well as Angelina Jolie’s Wanted and the t.v. series The Troop. Fuchs co-wrote Ice Age: Continental Drift and has appeared as an actor in several television shows.
The studio has confirmed that the television show could air as early as next fall.
