New Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Card Available at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

Editor’s Note: We welcome guest writer Cari Keebaugh back, and she has exciting news about the popular Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Game at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World!

Sorcerers, rejoice! You now have a new trick in your bag of spells against the villains who are trying to take over the Magic Kingdom!

For those who enjoy playing the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party guests can obtain a rare spell card featuring Chip’N Dale. To get the card, you must visit the Fire Station on Main Street (which is the location to visit if you’ve never before played the game before and you want to get started). To be presented with this special card, you must show your event ticket and wristband; a cast member will then stamp your event card to ensure that each visitor only receives one Chip ‘N Dale spell card.

The card is labelled 01/P and is a sun card (a card released only during special events). This new denotation, combined with the card being numbered “1,” hints at the distinct possibility of more special event cards being released in the future.

For those unfamiliar with the game, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is an interactive game/attraction that  just launched in February 2012. Players must defeat famous Disney villains by playing spell cards in front of special kiosks spread throughout the Magic Kingdom park. Players can cast a spell by holding their chosen spell card towards the villain on the screen; the cards are read by special cameras, and based on your level of experience and what card you play, your spell just might defeat the villain. You will then be given hints on where to go next, and you continue the game by locating the next portal and defeating the next villain.

You can pick up a starter set of cards for free by visiting the Firehouse on Main Street or at the special kiosk behind Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Liberty Square. A home version of the game is now available for purchase (launched in August 2012) as well, and this version features new cards, as well as the opportunity to pick up rare cards. These “booster packs” can also be used in the parks. Currently the booster packs can only be purchased at the Emporium on Main Street, but plans are in the works to make them available in the Resorts and online on the Disney Store website.
