In recognition of their support of special needs guests, Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts was recently awarded the Gold Autism Award from the United Kingdom Autism Foundation. Established in 2000 to raise Autism awareness and help support the needs of those with autism in the United Kingdom, the foundation’s award was given to Disney as recognition for their efforts in supporting guests with autism and other special needs.
In a press release issued by Disney Parks, they said:
Disney works to accommodate guests with disabilities by appropriately training Cast Members, making the latest technology available to guests and constantly reviewing policies and procedures that govern park operations. In addition, guests with disabilities can plan their park experience by reviewing a copy of the Guide for Guests with Disabilities.
