While the release of Disney/Pixar’s next film Monsters University is still almost a year away, we’ve been getting more information about the film this summer that makes us even more excited to see what Pixar has in store. This week, Billy Crystal, who will give voice to star Mike Wazowski in the film, revealed new details about the Monsters Inc. prequel in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
While we already knew that the film would focus on Mike and Sully’s relationship in college, and the teaser trailers revealed them in the same dorm, Crystal revealed that we’ll also be getting a look at their involvement in Greek life as well. He says:
“[Mike and Sully] end up in the same fraternity where they have this scare competition — like Greek Games in college. They have to mobilize a group, sort of like Revenge of the Nerds-monsters, and get them ready to be scary.”
In addition, Crystal revealed the ages of the two lead characters, who will be just starting their college years, revealing:
“They’re 17 and 18 years old in the script,” says Crystal. “My guy has a retainer, even.”
Monsters University will debut in theaters June 21, 2013.
