The announcement was just made that Elizabeth Banks will be starring as Tinker Bell in a new Disney live-action romantic comedy about the mischievous fairy, well known to all as the reluctant pixie-duster in the story of Peter Pan and Captain Hook.
According to Variety, the film has a lot of cooks in the kitchen. While the concept was partially developed by Banks’ own production company, several Hollywood names — including Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot, and McG — have signed onto the production team. Elizabeth Wright Shapiro is reported as the screenwriter on the project.
The premise of the film is “the mischievous nature of Tinker Bell,” and it has been billed as a romantic comedy, so this should make a good date night film. While there’s no release date set for the film, expect that it’s still a few years down the road.
