Steven Spielberg’s epic biopic Lincoln, which stars two-time Oscar-winner Daniel Day-Lewis in the title role, finally has a release date – but it will be up against some heavy box office competition.
At first, the film will see a limited release on November 9, with a wide release following November 16. It will open shortly after the new James Bond film Skyfall, as well as Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina adaptation and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. Sources say Spielberg isn’t particularly worried about that film, however, as Breaking Dawn targets a much different demographic than Lincoln.
Lincoln is based on historian Doris Kearns Goodwin’s Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln.
In addition to Daniel Day-Lewis, the film also stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Jared Harris, David Straithairn and Sally Field.
