Disney’s Animal Kingdom has welcomed the newest addition to the family – a 35 pound female baby Okapi named Nafuna.
Nafuna, which means “delivered feet first,” has had her first wellness exam and been pronounced healthy. She was born on June 21 to mom first-time mom Zawadi following a 14-month gestation period.
While the new baby and her mom are not available for public viewing just yet, a few months from now visitors to the park will be able to catch a glimpse of the baby Okapi and mother at Animal Kingdom’s Ituri Forest. The baby’s father is currently living on the savannah at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
