This week, it was announced that the upcoming Disney film Frankenweenie will be making its grand debut at this year’s Fantastic Fest, an annual film festival held in Austin, TX. The Tim Burton-directed film will have its world premiere as the opening film of the seven-day festival on September 20.
Fantastic Fest is America’s largest genre film festival, featuring horror, fantasy, sci fi, and action films from around the world. The festival has previously hosted the world premieres of such films as Zombieland, There Will Be Blood, and Apocalypto.
Frankenweenie, the newest collaboration between Disney and legendary director Tim Burton, centers on a young boy who brings his beloved dog Sparky back to life. The stop motion-animated film will make its theatrical debut on October 5, 2012.
