We’ve been getting really excited for the premiere of Disney/Pixar’s new film Brave this summer, but now, there’s just as much reason to be excited for what comes before the film as well. This week, Pixar released a short clip of La Luna, the animated short set to debut in front of Brave. The short, which has already had a few screenings around the world prior to its theatrical debut, is nominated for Best Animated Short Film in this year’s Academy Awards.
Here is the official description of the film:
La Luna is the timeless fable of a young boy who is coming of age in the most peculiar of circumstances. Tonight is the very first time his Papa and Grandpa are taking him to work. In an old wooden boat they row far out to sea, and with no land in sight, they stop and wait. A big surprise awaits the little boy as he discovers his family’s most unusual line of work. Should he follow the example of his Papa, or his Grandpa? Will he be able to find his own way in the midst of their conflicting opinions and timeworn traditions?
La Luna is directed by Enrico Casarosa and produced by Kevin Reher, with music by frequent Pixar composer Michael Giacchino. Check out the beautiful and charming clip of the short film below:
La Luna will debut in front of Brave in theaters on June 22, 2012.
