The Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, who recently starred in the action flick Hanna, is slated to star in Disney’s action-focused take on the cartoon classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
Dubbed Snow and the Seven, the live-action film takes place in 19th century China, with the “seven dwarves” being a group of international warriors from various countries. In order to defeat an evil empress who has re-emerged, the group will be led by a lone woman named Olivia Sinclair, the role Ronan will play.
Sources say Disney will be visiting various countries around the globe in search of top actors to star alongside Ronan in the film. Michael Gracey will direct with a script written most recently by Toy Story 3 scribe Michael Arndt.
