Disney’s hit animated film Tangled was recognized at the 2012 Grammy Awards last night, when Alan Menken and Glenn Slater won the Grammy Award for “Best Song Written for Visual Media.” The award recognized their work on the Tangled song “I See the Light.”
This is Menken’s seventh Grammy Award, previously winning for his work on such films as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin. Additionally, as an eight-time Oscar winner, Menken currently holds more Academy Awards than any other living person. This marks Slater’s first Grammy win; he has previously been nominated twice for Tony Awards for his work on the musicals Sister Act and The Little Mermaid.
