The Oriental Land Company, Ltd., which owns and operates the Tokyo Disneyland Resort, announced this week that the popular attraction “Toy Story Mania!” will soon be making its way to Japan. Currently operating in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, the attraction is based on Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story franchise. The 3D attraction, which will be the first of its kind at the resort, will be located in the Tokyo DisneySea theme park.
“Toy Story Mania!” will be a part of Toyville Trolley Park, a new area of Tokyo DisneySea themed to an old-fashioned amusement park. Much like the attraction’s Walt Disney World incarnation in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the queue will be filled with oversized toys and board games. Guests will enter the attraction through the “wide open mouth” of Sheriff Woody himself, which will measure over 26 feet in height. The attraction will be FASTPASS enabled.
Oriental Land Company has also announced that building the attraction will cost nearly $150 million, roughly twice the cost of what the original Walt Disney World attraction cost to design and build. This exciting attraction is currently expected to open on July 9, 2012.
