Last week, more than 300 Disney VoluntEARS partnered with Ocean Conservancy, Keep Brevard Beautiful, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Canaveral Port Authority and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Florida to help clean up the Brevard County coastline as part of International Coastal Cleanup. More than 2,000 pounds of trash and debris were picked up along four miles of the coastline.

By cleaning up our coastal areas, Disney VoluntEARS are directly contributing to the conservation of wildlife and nature, which is an important part of Disney’s environmental commitment. I’m proud of everyone who came out to help ensure that our state’s natural wonders will inspire and nurture future generations.
Both Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Cruise Line VoluntEARS made an impressive effort to pick up trash and debris in order to help protect sea life and keep trash out of the local waterways, as well as make the beaches more enjoyable for visitors. Fishing line, cigarette butts and plastic wrappers comprised the majority of trash that was picked up.
Pat Brown, the executive director of Keep Brevard Beautiful, appreciates everything the Disney VoluntEARS did to clean up the coastline, saying that “it means a world of difference to the people who visit our beaches and the animals who call it home.”
