A popular attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland, the Disneyland Railroad, was derailed on Sunday. Sources say the accident was due to human error, and the driver has been suspended pending further investigation.
The incident was first brought to light by media sources, but Disney denies any cover up. Because the train was out of service at the time and no injuries were sustained, a Disney spokesman says they didn’t feel the need to publicize the incident.
The spokesman also said the accident was due to the driver not providing enough space for the train to switch tracks, leading to six wheels veering off course. According to sources, the derailment was not due to any equipment failure. An investigation by the park and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department are still ongoing.
