When most people think of Disney vacations, the first thing that springs to mind is probably theme parks or cruise ships. But what about bringing the magic of a Disney vacation to a trip that explores the culture and sights of a foreign country? That’s what Adventures By Disney seeks to do, and the program has helped families to discover and explore exotic locations around the globe for the past six years. Their collection of tours already include such exciting places as Ireland, Italy, Australia, and Costa Rica, and Disney has recently announced two new destinations that will be added to Adventures by Disney in 2012: Greece and Northern France.
“Through our dedication to storytelling and exclusive hands-on experiences, families can get a glimpse of the history and beauty synonymous with Greece, France, Egypt and every vacation destination on our roster,” said Josh D’Amaro, Vice President, Adventures by Disney. “We are in the business of creating unforgettable, VIP hassle-free itineraries so guests can focus on discovering and exploring a new world and creating priceless vacation memories that last a lifetime.”
The first new tour, the “Greek Odyssey” adventure, will take place in the gorgeous and historic country of Greece. Participants will be taken on a journey through Athens, Santorini and Crete. Greek mythology will come to life in the city of Athens, where guests will travel to the Parthenon and see the birthplace of the modern Olympics at the Panathinaiko Stadium. On the volcanic island of Santorini, adult guests will be able to enjoy a Volcan wine tasting, while kids can have fun stomping grapes. Finally, the group will journey on the crystal blue waters of the Aegan Sea to Crete, where they will be treated to lessons in classic Greek dancing and Tsatziki cheese making.
Another new tour will be the “Esprit de France” adventure, which whisks guests off to Northern France. Here, guests will be able to visit the last known home of Leonardo da Vinci, Château du Clos Lucé, and channel their inner artists at Monet’s Gardens. In Normandy, France, guests will unlock the mysteries of the tidal island of Mont Saint-Michel and visit the American Cemetery in Omaha Beach, which honors the brave heroes that lost their lives in the D-Day Invasion in 1944. Guests will also be able to enjoy a lesson in brandy making on Normandy’s Cider Route, take a leisurely bike ride through the grounds of the Château de Chambord, and relax and enjoy the beauty and charm of the French countryside.
In addition to these two new destinations, Adventures By Disney has also announced the return of their “Pyramids, Pharaohs & Ancient Treasures” adventure to Egypt, which was suspended in February, as well as some new enhancements to some of their current trips. With so many amazing offerings to choose from, Adventures By Disney seems to be an amazing way to put a new spin on a Disney vacation, and we can’t wait to try one for ourselves.
