More details were revealed today about Marvel’s offerings at the upcoming D23 Expo, and it certainly looks like they will be pulling out all the stops. This will be Marvel Entertainment’s first time at the D23 Expo, with Disney having acquired the company in 2009. With the company having a much smaller presence at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con than in previous years, it is expected that the D23 Expo is where Marvel will impress audiences with big reveals and special sneak peeks.
As previously announced, Marvel Studios will be part of the Walt Disney Studios arena presentation on Saturday, August 20 at 10:30 AM. Marvel’s president of Production, Kevin Feige, will discuss what’s coming up for Marvel Studios in 2012, including the hotly anticipated film The Avengers. Attendees can expect appearances by cast members from The Avengers, as well as a sneak peek of the new film.
On Sunday, August 21 at 10:15 AM, Marvel will get the stage to themselves in their Marvel arena presentation. Led by the company’s chief creative officer, Joe Quesada, the presentation promises to give attendees “an exclusive and unprecedented experience that will take you through the evolution of the first comic book in 1939 to Marvel’s current position as one of the most important creative forces in the world.”
Says Quesada about the event:
“We’re thrilled to be a part of the one-of-a-kind show that is Disney’s D23. Whether attendees are new to the world of Marvel or longtime fans, they’re going to love what we’ve planned for them!”
The presentation looks to be a great way for Marvel to introduce their characters and traditions to Disney fans. The presentation, which will include an interactive Q & A portion, will give guests a look at the history of Marvel and the iconic Superheroes that it has brought to life, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the company and why it is a “House of Ideas.”
The D23 Expo will take place August 19-21, 2011 at the Anaheim Convention Center. With the convention almost one week away, it certainly looks to be a can’t-miss event. To purchase tickets, visit the Expo’s official website.
