Variety is reporting that James Bobin has chosen to helm the next Muppet Movie. This apparently represents a choice preferring this opportunity to a Judd Apatow project entitled “Bridesmaids.”
The new Muppet Movie script is written by Nicholas Stoller and Jason Segal. The duo wrote “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” a comedy that featured puppets prominently. Both the director and the writers have previously been successful with adult comedy, so the movie has the potential to be a children’s film that appeals to adults too. This is one of the hallmarks of Disney classics.
The current title for the project is apparently “The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made,” but does not have a release date yet.
