Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, which officially opened November 5, 1990, is one of several Epcot area resorts located within Walt Disney World. The New England nautical-themed resort is classified as a Disney Deluxe Resort, and offers gorgeous landscaping, world-class amenities and all the charm of a true New England yacht club.
The hotel was designed by architect Robert A.M. Stern, known for his East Coast beach houses. The hotel features all of the amenities you would expect from a Disney resort, and has also been recognized by the Florida Green Lodging Program for the resort’s environmentally responsible practices.
Disney’s Yacht Club Resort offers many guest room types and views, and all rooms are decked out with dark wood and wicker furniture, and plenty of nautical touches to immerse guests in true Disney style. Room types include standard rooms with standard, pool/water or garden views, as well as club level rooms with concierge service, deluxe club level rooms and suites.
Guests of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort will also have their choice of several dining establishments, including the resort’s signature restaurant, Yachtsman Steakhouse. This restaurant serves fine steaks, seafood, chicken and lamb dishes and will suit the entire family. Guests can also enjoy casual dining, quick-service eateries, and a buffet-style character breakfast at the Cape May Cafe, located in the adjacent Beach Club Resort hotel (the Yacht Club and Beach Club resorts share many of the same amenities.)
There are also plenty of recreational activities available at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, including activities for adults, children and families alike. Guests can enjoy the sand and surf on the beach by Crescent Lake, or rent watercraft, experience a bass fishing excursion, or enjoy tennis, volleyball, jogging trails and bike rentals. If parents desire a night on the town, the Sandcastle Club is available for an additional fee. This supervised activity center for kids ages 3 to 12 offers computer games, Disney movies, dinner, snacks and plenty of fun. The kids can also experience the latest in video game entertainment and classic arcade games at the Lafferty Place Arcade.
One of the most popular attractions at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, however, is Stormalong Bay, an amazing 3-acre water recreation area that encompasses a sand-bottom pool, a large hotel water slide, a lazy river and the massive “Shipwreck” exploration area. There’s also an elevated tanning deck for visitors to soak up the sun. For a more tranquil atmosphere, guests can access one of three quiet pools, including Disney’s Beach Club Resort pool, the Yacht Club Resort pool in a quiet garden setting, and the third pool located in the Beach Club Villas. All resort guests have access to each of these pools, as they share much of the same amenities.
Disney’s Yacht Club Resort immerse visitors in a New England-style yacht club atmosphere, with plenty of recreational activities, world-class amenities and fine dining opportunities for the whole family. With so much to see and do, guests can enjoy a Disney vacation in perfect comfort.
