This August’s D23 Expo, taking place at the Anaheim Convention Center from August 19-21, is certainly shaping up to be an exciting event. In addition to events like the previously-announced Ultimate Disney Trivia Tournament, Disney announced a wide variety of other experiences today that guests will find at this year’s Expo.
Highlights of the Expo include a number of different pavilions for each division of the Walt Disney Company. Fans of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts will find a number of “sneak peek” looks at new experiences coming to Disney Parks around the world, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney, and Disney Vacation Club. The Disney Living pavilion will feature new and exclusive products and experiences from Disney Consumer Products, as well as demos, immersive environments, and a chance to meet some of the creators of these exciting products. At the Disney Interactive Media Group’s pavilion, guests can try out new games and online activities.
Other experiences at the Expo include Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives, an exhibit featuring the “crown jewels” of the Archives’ vast collection. The work of D23 members themselves will be displayed as well in the Disney Fan Art Gallery, featuring artwork submitted by fans based on the Disney film 101 Dalmatians. For fans of Radio Disney and Disney’s various television stations (Disney Channel, Disney XD, and Disney Junior), stars from the channels and radio station will make appearances at the Expo, and Radio Disney will be on hand with plenty of music and fun games for the whole family. A special treat at the Expo will be the Disney Legends Ceremony, a tradition that honors men and women who have made outstanding contributions to the company each year.
Those looking for merchandise and to expand their Disney collections are in luck as well. A special D23 Expo Dream Store will be filled with both D23-themed and Disney Theme Park Merchandise, and there will be a special product showcase for pins and Vinylmation, where collectors can swap stories and collections and meet the artists behind the products. In addition, there will be the Collectors Forum, an “ultimate marketplace for fans” featuring all sorts of Disney merchandise and memorabilia from various vendors and collectors.
If you’re interested in attending the Expo, discounted tickets are available through June 30, 2011. D23 members at both the Gold and Silver levels can also receive a discount on tickets for the event. To purchase tickets, visit www.D23expo.com.
