A woman who lost consciousness while riding the Space Mountain attraction at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom last Sunday is showing signs of improvement, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Miranda Baldwin, 48, of Cornwall, England, experienced what investigators are calling an “unknown medical event” while riding the roller coaster with her two daughters over the weekend. Her daughters, who were riding behind her, noticed that she seemed to be unconscious toward the end of the ride, and summoned cast members to assist when the ride was over. Reedy Creek Emergency Services treated Baldwin at the scene, before she was transported to Dr. P. Phillips Hospital.
While Baldwin remains in the intensive care unit of the Orlando hospital, her daughters have stated that her condition continues to improve, and that she is “becoming more responsive.” The sheriff’s office added that she is awake and responding to instructions.
