Disney Cruise Lines has continued to share additional information regarding its newest ship, the Disney Fantasy. The lastest edition to be added to the popular fleet of cruise ships is currently under construction in Papenburg, Germany.
The Fantasy will introduce many new dining and entertainment options, including an animated, interactive dinner show and re-imagined nightlife district for adults, as well as new stage shows that are currently being developed for the new ship exclusively. However, Disney also plans to distinguish the Fantasy from its sister ship, the Disney Dream, through decor.
While the Disney Dream is decorated with a bold Art Deco motif, the Fantasy will feature a softer Art Nouveau style, with classic colors and a softer palette. More subtle, with lighter colors, the peacock pattern that dominates the ship’s atrium is repeated on the signature character statue of Mademoiselle Minnie Mouse, dressed in keeping with the style of the ship.
Senior vice president for creative at Walt Disney Imagineering, Joe Lanzisero, told reporters that it was important to be consistent, but to distinguish the Fantasy at the same time. “We had to find those places where we could differentiate the experience. There’s no denying it’s Disney, but in a very controlled way,” he explained.
