Actress and singer Selena Gomez received her big break in 2007, when she landed the role of Alex Russo on Disney’s The Wizards of Waverly Place. The popular Disney Channel show lasted four seasons, and even spawned a Disney Channel Original Movie in 2009 entitled Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie. In June 2010, a sequel to the film was announced, but since then all plans for a sequel have been scrapped.
Since then, the young starlet has been keeping very busy, including developing a fashion line for Kmart entitled Dream Out Loud. The clothes were designed to appeal to a large audience, even young girls who have no idea who Selena Gomez is. Her acting career has also taken off since she landed a main role on Wizards. She has starred in several films, including Ramona and Beezus, Princess Protection Program, Another Cinderella Story and the upcoming Monte Carlo.
The teenager hasn’t stopped at acting, though. Selena Gomez is also a respected singer, with her most recent single Who Says topping the charts and the message of empowerment resonating with her fans. The star even received a People’s Choice Award in January for “Favorite Breakout Artist,” catapulting her music career. Gomez released her first full length album in 2009 with Kiss & Tell, followed by A Year Without Rain in 2010. The deluxe edition of the album also 
features the Spanish version of A Year Without Rain, entitled Un Ano Sin Lluvia. Her next album entitled When the Sun Goes Down will be released June 28, 2011. Selena Gomez is also slated to be a presenter for the MTV Movie Awards on June 5 2011. She will also be co-host and perform at the 2011 MuchMusic Video Awards on June 19.
Gomez was also nominated for two Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards, one for Best Female Singer and Best TV Actress for Wizards. While Gomez managed to snag the award for Best TV Actress, Katy Perry beat out Gomez for the Best Female Singer category.
Her relationship with Justin Bieber has also kept fans speculating “Are they or aren’t they?”, as Gomez has been historically tight-lipped about her romantic involvement with the singing sensation. However, Gomez couldn’t keep her relationship under wraps for long, and it’s well known that the pair are involved. With some very public PDA in the Caribbean and strolling along the beaches of Miami, it was only a matter of time before the couple had to come public with their relationship. Gomez was also on hand to support Bieber, who was nominated for several awards, at the Billboard Awards May 22, 2011. The couple were also presenters during the awards show.
