It might have been the biggest news in the galaxy today – Disney has officially announced that Star Wars-themed lands are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland.
The announcement was made at the D23 Expo by Disney CEO Bob Iger.
Each of the land expansions will be 14 acres and will transport guests to a new planet – never seen before in the Star Wars universe – where characters and stories will come to life.
“I am thrilled to announce the next chapter in the long and exciting history between Disney Parks and Star Wars,” said Iger. “We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever. These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”
The lands will also feature two signature attractions – the battle experience and an attraction where guests will be behind the controls of the Millennium Falcon.
In addition to the attractions both lands will also feature a Star Wars Cantina, shops, droids, and more.
There is no word yet on when the Star Wars lands will open.
