While Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel have signed on for the Boy Meets World spin-off to reprise their roles as lovable couple Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, Rider Strong (who played Cory’s best friend, Shawn Hunter) will not be returning.
In a statement, Rider expressed his fondness for the seven years he spent working on Boy Meets World, but says:
Boy Meets World was a defining aspect of my life, and I cherish those seven years. So I am extremely happy for Ben and Danielle to be able to continue the story. At this point, I have no official involvement in Girl Meets World.
He does, however, believe their might be a chance that fans will see some of the characters from the original show appear in guest spots on Girl Meets World. Meanwhile, Will Friedle (Eric Matthews) and William Daniels (Mr. Feeny) have declined comment regarding whether they will appear on the spin-off series. This doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t be involved, however – we’ll keep you updated when we know more.
