For guests who’ve always wanted to go more in-depth with the animals & environment at Disney’s Animal Kingdom “Kilimanjaro Safaris” attraction the time is coming. Disney announced the addition of personalized guided treks through the safaris for an intimate number of guests per tour. One highlight will be the opportunity to experience the previously unexplored “Harambe Reserve” undeveloped forest area in open-sided safari vehicles.
Specialized Disney guides will provide guests with information about the safaris, the animals, and animal behavior more in depth than the regular park attraction provides. Additional time to observe wildlife and explore the 100-acre savannah will also be part of the trek. “Kilimanjaro Safaris” provides a unique opportunity to see African animals, including rhinos, giraffes, cheetahs, zebras, and elephants.
Disney Imagineers are working hard to finalize details about the new personalized small-group treks but currently there is no detailed information about when the experience may start, pricing, or the amount of time each trek will take. “The Examiner” on-line is reporting that Disney plans to take reservations for the special tour later this year and will release new information as the project progresses.
