Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort looks to be preparing for a major construction project.
Permits were recently filed with the South Florida Water Management District for a project at Caribbean Beach Resort.
The permits confirm that a multi-story building is set to replace most of the buildings in the resort’s Barbados village. Six smaller buildings are also in the plans.
There have been reports lately of height balloons at the resort – which usually signify that Disney is planning to build taller buildings. According to reports, if the balloon height tests are accurate, the highest rooms in the new building will be able to see IllumiNations from Epcot.
Rumors have been swirling for about a year that Disney Vacation Club was coming to Caribbean Beach Resort. There is no official word from Disney about this, but some are speculating that the new buildings in the permits might be a DVC section for Caribbean Beach. If so, this would be the first DVC resort located at a Disney Moderate resort.
The construction is slated to start sometime this year and could extend into 2019.
