Disney Interactive, who is the parent company of Brighton, U.K.-based Black Rock Studios, has recently announced some layoffs within the company.
Black Rock Studios, the developer of the popular racing game Split/Second,had been in talks to develop a sequel to the game, but the sequel was canned back in December due to Disney Interactive’s restructuring.
Now, a source close to the company says that about 100 jobs at Black Rock Studios are in jeopardy, but that the studio has not shut down the developer completely and apparently has a “secret” project currently in the works. The source also said, however, that “this doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone…[and] many people [will be] quite happy to take the money and go, as they’ve been sitting around doing nothing for months.”
