It’s not time to Let It Go just yet – Disney just announced that Frozen 2 is in the works.
Bob Iger, John Lasseter, and Josh Gad (Olaf’s voice) made the announcement during Disney’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders this week in San Francisco.
The film reunites director Chris Buck, director and writer Jennifer Lee, and producer Peter Del Vecho. There is no word on a release date or any production details.
In other movie new Iger also announced that the first stand-alone Star Wars movie, Rogue One, is in the works as is Star Wars: Episode VIII.
Rogue One will explore “the characters and events beyond the core Star Wars saga.” The film will be directed by Gareth Edwards and written by Chris Weitz (Cinderella). Oscar nominee Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) has already been cast.
Rogue One will be released on December 16, 2016.
It was also confirmed that Rian Johnson will write and direct Star Wars: Episode VIII. This film is scheduled to be released on May 26, 2017 – 40 years and a day after the release of Star Wars: A New Hope. The film continues the story after the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
