As part Disney California Adventure’s ongoing renovation project, a new building is taking shape for the park’s re-themed entrance.
The building will be a replica of the Carthay Circle Theatre, an L.A. landmark that premiered many of Disney’s earliest animated works, including “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” in 1937. But rather than housing a theatre, Disney has confirmed that the building will be home to a new restaurant and lounge, and will serve as a hub in the park’s new entrance.
The menu and interior design are still in the early development stages, according to an email statement by Disney spokesperson John McClintock. However, during a model display of the project at the Grand Californian Hotel during the recent Disney 2011 Investor’s Conference, signs on the scaled rendering read “Walt’s Cafe” and “Carthay Circle Steakhouse.”
There has also been speculation that the building will house a private club, similar to the uber-exclusive Club 33 at Disneyland. McClintock refuted the report, though, saying that “nothing else about the location is far enough along to discuss at this time.”
