We think this is just a cool story.
We first told you back in December about a special benefit cruise that Disney Cruise Line planned. The Benefit Preview Cruise would benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida. And not only that – but 45 children from local clubs were to be among the passengers for this special two-day cruise – and some of the first people EVER to sail on Disney’s newest ship, the Dream.
Well, we’re happy to announce that the adventure is underway for these special boys and girls. But even greater than that, the benefit cruise has raised $750,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Central Florida community!
Lots of special activities will take place during the voyage, which will head to Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay. Disney Channel notables, who are working with Disney Friends for Change to promote “green” thinking, are along for the adventure, and once on the island, the children, along with dedicated cast members, will work together to create a mural, which will be donated to a Boys & Girls Club.
The benefit cruise and partnership with Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida represents a continuation of the work begun by Walt Disney himself, who believed strongly in the organization, and was even an honorary member of the national board of directors.
We look forward to hearing more about this special voyage over the next few days.
